Everyday, run of the mill...
Howdy.. nothing super exciting happenin' over here at our house, but thought I would try to get used to blogging more often than once every few months! So here is my promise peeps (and mother), I will post more often. Ambiguous ain't it?? heheeee!!!
So for starters, Miss Ashlyn has discovered candy. Now, we have TRIED to keep it away from her as long as possible, seeing as how the Mr. and I are somewhat experts in this category. Chris loves candy and I love chocolate anything sugar... but she managed to wrangle a tootsie pop from me. How she even knew what it was is beyond me. It must be some genetic trait we have passed down to her.. like radar.
Enjoying that tootsie pop!!!
And here comes the best part!!!!
Warning: INCOMING KISSES...
Sticky, baby girl kisses coming right for me!!!!
Ah, sticky kisses.. with a hint of.. Watermelon??
On to the next...
Bringing baby Sasha into the family has been such a joy, we just love her- she is such a great baby- really and truly!!!! She's got the sweetest personality!!! Eventhough she doesn't do more than sleep, poo and projectile urp all over anything in range, here are some sweet pics...

Ashlyn is a big fan of the "puff puff" (pacifier), and I believe she thinks everyone else should be too... Which is why she is constantly trying to SHOVE pacifiers in her sisters mouth...especially when she is crying- Ashlyn to the rescue!!!!
Ahhh.. moments with Daddy....
On one last note, we decided to visit the Omniplex (now known as the Science Museum) on one lonely rainy day- Ashlyn LOVED it!!!
Ready to go in!!! YEAY!
In the play house..
Space Suit may be a liiiiitle big...
Sasha was having a BLAST!

Introducing our Sweet Sasha

Hi to all,

Two.

Well now, is HAS been a while since we have posted some magical goodness, now hasn't it??? Sorry to those in waiting- but in all fairness, we HAVE had a few things going on around here.
One.
We were blessed by the long awaited arrival of baby #2- Miss Sasha Leigh. All I can say is that she is THE sweetest thing on the good Gods green earth...

Sasha Leigh
July 29, 2009
8lbs., 1 oz.
20 inches
Cute as a BUTTON!

And one must NEVER forget our dear Ashlyn... She LOVES her new little sister!!!

Two.
It was slow goin' in the recovery department- c-sections are not so fun- and although this recovery was way (seriously, WAY) better than it was with Ashlyn- it still sssssuper ssssucked. After a nasty infection, I am all healed up and starting to excercise again (ha- funny- "again"-hehe).. I am currently in mourning for my favorite ice cream, Ben and Jerry's Karmal Sutra.. (**tears.. caramel..so tasty**) But something must be done for the amount of "baby weight" (again-funny) I gained while carrying around Sweet Sasha...

All 4 of us.. too sweet...
Three.
The last time I tried to post a new entry, a was gleefully stung by a scorpion. Yikes and Ouch. Needless to say, I had a little posting fright. Sitting in my comfy office chair with my legs dangling in prey is definately NOT my idea of an awesome way to spend an hour-especially when I could be sleeping. Priorities, people, priorities.
The Evidence

Now that you have read all of the latest, feel free to enjoy, more to come....

Pics of baby girl!!!
Ok kiddos.. so after many requests and FINALLY being able to get my wireless up and running- here are the infamous one year pics of baby girl.. I must say, the photographer got some great shots despite baby girls temper-tantrums over TWO (yes, TWO) sessions.
My personal FAVORITE!!! HEHEHEHHEHEE!!!!

So lets see, what else is going on in our house??? Ah yes.. the temper-tantrums.. now.. I thought those didn't start until later, but BOY was I wrong!!! When my lovely little one doesn't get her way, she THROWS herself down (face-first!), and just screams... so.much.fun. Sometimes I just have to laugh.. because seriously- lets face it folks.. that's just comedy. Does that make me a bad parent???? :PIt's getting hot here in OK (for those non-okies out there), and they are forecasting it to be a SUPER HOT summer.. yeay for me. Can't WAIT to get bigger.. and sweatier.. sounds like so much fun.. I decided it was too hot to have baby girl play outside in the sun, so we have been waiting until the sun sets a bit and putting out the baby splash pool. She absolutely LOVES that thing- I hestitated pulling it out, because I didn't have a maternity swimsuit... I actually originally bought one, it looked pretty cute on the hanger and on the lovely pregnant gal modeling it in the advertisement.. HOWEVER. I put it on and just looked like a giant black beach ball... with ruffles.. not a pretty site folks. So anywho, I took the swimsuit BACK to the store and decided to forego the swimsuit this year. Fastforward to this week, when baby girl wanted to get in the splash pool, and momma has nothing to put on.. but a bikini from pre-baby. That's right folks. I squeezed this squishy- big-boob-ed body into a bikini.... it was a sight no man should EVER have to behold.. but hey.. at least I didn't have to fork over $60 for it... and I think Ashlyn is too young to be traumatized.. poor girl. Good thing Chris wasn't home.. because if he would have been, I don't think there would ever be any more Smedstad babies :) HA!
Anywho, I hope you enjoyed the pics, more to come soon!! Promise!

As the world turns......
So...we are super behind in blogging-land!!! Totally my bad.. I just find that nowadays, napping when baby girl is napping is all too hard to avoid. Besides the fact that sleep and I have a long standing love affair, uninterrupted sleep at night is hard to come by, what with the multiple pee breaks and the three-part-turning-over process (good fun there).. but my dear husband reminds me ever-so lovingly that I still have a few months to go, so I'd better suck it up.. (sad, and oh so true).
So, what is in that big belly of mine???
So, what is in that big belly of mine???
A SQUASH!!! No WONDER!!!
Since our last post, we have had lots of goings on at the Smedstad house (would you expect anything else???) After baby girls big first birthday party, we still enjoyed balloons two weeks later- I think I got my moneys worth in that department.. I am thinking I should just forgo gifts next year, and just fill the house with balloons.. they seem to provide some decent entertainment.
Helium-filled fun!
Easter came and went- although I am pretty sure the adults in this house enjoyed it more than baby girl did... what with all of the candy Ashlyn got from the Easter Bunny- couldn't let that go to waste!
She enjoyed her first Easter Egg hunt at my Sister-in-Law's grandparents retirement living center (did ya follow that??). I would have LOVED to have watched this event, however, I was stuck on the side of the road sans gas... that's right.. I RAN OUT OF GAS!!!! My poor brother rescued me while the rest of the family was on the egg hunt... (Seriously- pregnancy brain has set in- in the WORST way...)
Great pic... sure wish I was THERE! geah!!!
Anywho, Ashlyn and Daddy also got an opportunity to dye some Easter Eggs, and Papa (my Dad) brought Ashlyn an Easter basket he and Liz had put together.
Daddy and baby girl dying the Easter Eggs!!
Easter Basket= Good Times
You can always tell Ashlyn belongs to us because she pretty much gnawed through the plastic to get to the candy...
Miss Ashlyn has been discovering LOTS of new things to terrorize... the Tupperware drawer (I've got lids and bowls of all sizes out the yin-yang), the coozie drawer (lots of good times.. take a coozie out, put a coozie in.. out, in.. out... in.. out.. amazing..) She loves to get in (and out of) baskets and drawers.. She has also discovered that if she takes over Lucy's blanket, Lucy will drag her all over the house- which is serious fun in a one year old's mind...
Out..In.. Out..In...
Ashlyn: "WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"
Lucy: "Seriously??"
I took baby girl to the mall playground for the first time- she ran in circles.. over and over again (anyone see and OCD pattern developing here??), she really enjoyed it-squealing in delight and stopping to pet all of the big turtles and butterflies.
She also LOVES to play outside, on the RARE occasion that we dry out during the day, we always sit (ok, I sit) on the patio while Ashlyn and Lucy chase each other.
Ashlyn is learning to climb up hills- no problems there, she heads to the top and plays in the dirt.. only problem is, she hasn't 'quite' figured out how to get down..... She has also discovered the pansies still hanging on from the winter.
"Daaaaaa"= "See the pretty flowers, momma??"
Ashlyn: "DAT??" (pointing to flowers)
Me: "Those are pretty flowers, this is a yellow one, a purple one and a red one."
Ashlyn: "Duuuuuuu" (petting the flowers)
Me: "yes, pretty flowers"
Ashlyn : "DAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!"- as she pulls every last petal from the stem......
Destructo, the Pansy Destroyer- see the petal trail she leaves in her wake...
We like to visit any kind of Arts festival that is going on around here, baby girl likes to people watch and we like to see the neat stuff that is always displayed.. Here is Miss Ashlyn talking up a storm to some random strangers (seriously, this part is allllll Chris- they could both talk to stop signs). Who knows what the heck she is saying, but it makes total sense to her.
Where is the stranger danger, here???

We LOVE the balloons!

Anywho, that is what is going on at our house, I seriously hope you are having as much fun at yours!!!! ;P
